Maple Street Biscuit Company

While technically not a coffee shop, Maple Street Biscuit Company is a southern restaurant chain serving coffee they roast at their Jacksonville, FL location. The coffee at the Chattanooga City Center location was decent, especially for mass-produced, big urn coffee. But this place is all about breakfast and biscuits are the star of the show.

You can’t avoid seeing the process of biscuit-making taking place in the open kitchen adjacent to the service counter. All orders are placed at this counter and patrons are called to pick up their meals here as well. The dining area was spacious with tables to accommodate a variety of group sizes.

I ordered the five and dime which is a biscuit filled with a fried chicken breast, bacon, a fried egg, and cheddar cheese, then topped with gravy. Handcrafted with quality ingredients, this is a treat for the senses. Don’t ruin the experience by looking at the calories.

I’ve spent much of my life in the south, yet this was my first trip to a Maple Street Biscuit restaurant. It appears they do an admirable job of rolling out a local, handmade, natural vibe across several locations. Given the opportunity, I’ll stop in again for comfort food with a modern twist.

    • Biscuits are a staple food in the southern states, available, but much less elevated on the food chain in our northern states. I love getting the perspective of my friends across the pond.
